Anybus ABC3007-A FactoryTalk

Good morning,

I have an Anybus Communicator (ABC 3007-A) and am converting a modbus RTU serial connection to an ethernet/ip server and am trying to allow FactoryTalk to directly poll the data off the anybus server.

Is this possible? I can add the Anybus Communicator as a device but am unable to create a “shortcut” to directly communicate to the data server. After talking to a FactoryTalk rep they stated a controller needed to be in the network to poll the anybus, but I just want to confirm this with y’all.

I am still learning so if I confused you in describing the situation let me know, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @nick.janes,

Yes, you need an Ethernet/IP Controller to poll an Ethernet/IP Adapter (like the ABC3007). You can find the documentation and videos on how to set that up on the Product Download Page.

There are also software controller simulators, like EIPScan, that can be used for testing, but FactoryTalk is not a controller simulator.

Best Regards,

Kyle
