eFive internet testing fail

Hi,
My Client facing problem during the eFive setup.
First he did the eFive cable connection & set the network interface at the eFive.
After setting, he connect his laptop to port1 at efive & port2 is connected to router.
Then he open a web brower to do a test on the internet connection, but it failed as there is no internet connection at his laptop.
Is this a correct way to test eFive got internet connection?
Below attach pic is the setting on eFive & the wiring.

That is not the right way to test for internet on the eFive. Devices on that segment of the eFive by default will not have internet access. Take a look at page 9 of the following PDF document.

Essentially what checking for a firmware update does is it will reach out to the internet for firmware updates. This is the best way to determine the network connection validity on the eFive WAN.

Ya you are right ,as I also felt that it was not the correct way to test the internet access.
Beside, the default gateway & WAN ip address were set wrongly.
After changing to the correct one, it seem ok.
And I check the Firmware is all up to date.
