Emailing alarms from eWON?

Hello,

We are using a eWON Flexy 205 to remote access and historical data emailing out. Now we are wondering if this eWON has a feature to receive alarm signals (BOOL type) from PLC and send an email out to us when any of the alarms is triggered?

Thanks,
Yun Lei from Xylem

Hi @ylei,

What kind of protocol is the PLC using to send this information? Modbus, Serial, ABlogix, etc? But you should be able to setup tags that can send out emails in an alarming state.

Hi Tim,

Back to this topic, we are using ABLOGIX as the server name…I read the manual “Flexy Family User Guide” for how to setup alarms, it seems setting it up in the tags that where setting up the historical tags…But we are wondering if we can get an alarm noticed by emailing when the alarm is triggered, not wait for the historical data/alarm file sent to us by the set time (e.g. mid-night)? For example, if the alarm “Tank 1 level high alarm” is triggered at 8am, we want to get an email for it at about 8am; if the alarm “Sludge pump failed” is triggered at 11 am, we want to get an email at about 11am…Is it possible?
One question not related to this alarm setup topic - can we export the historical data we set in this eWON Flexy, then import it to another eWON Flexy which we will has very similar setup? If yes, how?

Thanks,
Yun

Hi Yun,

That should work be sending out alarms like that to begin with. Do you have the tags setup to auto acknowledge on return? They may not be sending out immediately because the original alarm was never acknowledged after it went into the alarming state.

I also have a guide below that goes over setting up a tag for alarming and emailing below in this guide.
