Ethernet IP Barcode Reader to existing CanBus network Gateway

I am looking to connect an Ethernet/IP barcode reader to a pre-existing CANbus network. I am just looking for help on the selection of the right gateway, as I am not sure with the selections for Can which one I need, and also for the Ethernet IP, is it master or slave that i need?

Hi @Chad-Gerrie,

Do you know if the CAN network is using CANopen, J1939, or another CAN protocol? Do you have any documentation on it?

If it’s an Ethernet/IP barcode reader it is probably a slave/adapter, but it’s best to make sure. Do you have the documentation and/or EDS file?

Hi Kyle. I talked to the customer, and turns out it is not a can network, but a devicenet. So they have a keyance Sr 2000 ethernet ip barcode scanner and need to connect it to an existing Devicenet network. So would we need ethernet ip master and devicenet slave for the gateway?

DeviceNet actually does run on CAN, so it is both

Yes, exactly, the AB7672.
