Can the cellular modem be removed from a CD 2005 and work correctly?
Hi George,
Is there a reason you need to remove the internal modem of a CD 2005? Also that modem only supports up to 3G.
The modem is unnecessary hardware and can be a point of failure, adds power consumption and errors to the logs and can be repurposed as a WAN only eWon extending the usefulness of otherwise aged out hardware. Ideally the modem is removed and firmware for a non modem version is loaded. Is there a procedure for this?
No, there is not. If you use WANCnx=1 and WANFbckCnx=0, the modem should be disabled and only Ethernet used. However, keep in mind this device has been obsoleted and will no longer receive firmware updates.
