Flexy and https

Hi,
can we use directly a HTTPS connection with a Flexy ? (Without M2web/talk2M)
Simple to set up ?

Thank you,
Remi

It depends. What are you trying to do?

Hi,
a customer asked us if he can use this connection ‘https’ for the webpage configuration and to see the values. The customer likes https… security crypted, with direct connection on their network.
Thank you
Remi

Hi Remi,

No, there is no HTTPS option for the configuration page. I think that since it is only accessible from the local LAN port on the device or through the VPN tunnel, which is already encrypted, it was never implemented as an option. I can check if there are any plans to add it if you would like.

Kyle,

Any update of this matter? I’ve also have customer that want this option. Please advise.

Negative, I haven’t heard anything yet. Hopefully it’s coming with firmware 15. I’ll see if I can get any indication from the Ewon team.

Can I ask a favor? In order for me to get R&D to prioritize this a little more it would help me to get a little more information and context about why this feature is important to the customer. Are there any regulations or compliance standards that you know of that the customer must follow? And are they the end user of the machine and the Ewon is for remote access? or a machine builder? What type of industry, etc. Thank you for your help!!

Kyle,

THank you for the update.

The feature is very important to a customer because for instance some of my OEMs/Machine Builder that I supply the eWON products and support to frequently get road blocks from the IT folks that they are trying to implement their machines. IT always requires any web access to a device/appliance to utilize HTTPS. I always have to get involved with their IT folk to explain how the configuration interface is only accessible through the LAN ports and the VPN tunnel. It’s a big hassle. It would be a plus to be able to have this function already available to enable/disable.

K

Thank you for the feedback K! I’ve passed it along to the product manager.
