How to resolve changing power state

Earlier we had a USB LED for our USB to CAN V2 compact green, but now it is a steady red with a flashing green. We are not sure how to resolve it to be able to connect to the CAN. We think it is a power state issue, but on different laptops connected and not connected with the motor controller, it keeps with the same error.

Hello,

Is it the USB LED that is red with a periodic flash of green and is this the only error you are seeing?
What software are you using the usb 2 can with? Is this software detecting it?

Deryck

It is the USB LED that is only turning on. The CAN light has not been able to turn on. It actually has been doing a couple of things. So far we have observed it with a combination of both the LEDs in the USB light on and off. We have seen a steady red and steady green, steady red and flashing green, and steady red only. The computer will rapidly read the USB connection. As in, it will detect there is a USB connected and then doesn’t detect it over and over again.
We actually are starting to think it is a connection issue with the cable. So far we have tried 4 different computers which all had a working green LED on the USB before. (We also tried uninstalling the driver on one of the computers, and the cable can still recognize the lack of a driver and blink red once).
The software is DVT with a Sevcon Gen4 motor controller. It is not detecting any CAN connection.

Does our software detect the device? Try using CanAnalyser or Minimon depending on the driver version.

If it is a power issue try a USB hub with an external supply.

Deryck

CanAnalyser does not detect anything at all. Minimon flashes the connection. It reads that there is a connection for a split second then does not recognize.

What drivers do you have installed? How does the device show up in device manager?

Deryck

The fourth version. Right now it is a solid red and green light on. The device manager is showing up though as “This device is working properly.”

Can you upload a video showing the LEDs?

Deryck

Here is the steady red with blinking green.

It looks like the device could be having issues starting up. Can you try using a externally powered usb hub?

It blinks red and then turns off then

This is with a external supply?

I will need to look into what state this device will be in. Could it have been subjected to over voltage on the bus?

Deryck

Hello,

My colleagues in Germany think this devices could be damaged or defective. Do you have a second device you can test with?

Deryck

We do not. We have decided on just using a different motor controller with another programming procedure since we have a hard deadline coming up to meet.

If the device is damaged or defective and you would like it repaired you can fill out an RMA request at the following page. https://www.ixxat.com/support/product-returns
