Internet access through a Flexy 205 with configured NAT

Hi all,

i have configured NAT on my Flexy according to this guide.

Now I would like to additionally “route” the internet access.
Is this also possible with configured NAT?

Yes, Change NAT on LAN (Plug’n Route) to NAT and TF on WAN (NatItf = 2 in comcfg.txt) and make sure your LAN devices have the eWON LAN IP address set as their default gateway.

I switched to “NAT and TF on WAN”, also checked the parameter NatItf in the COM.cfg (value was already 2) and finally entered the IP address of the Flexy as gateway on the computer “behind” the Flexy.
Subsequently I rebooted the Flexy and the NAT still works, but I can’t access the Internet with the computer behind the Flexy.
On the Flexy is the latest firmware 14.0s02 installed.

Make sure you are using a known good public DNS server like 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1.

I took the Google server (8.8.8.8) as DNS.
Is it neccessary to enter a valid ip address for the Transparent Forwarding?

No, you shouldn’t need to. Can you share a full backup with Support files?

And here it is… Backup incl. the support files
Backup_inc_Support_eWON_Flexy205.tar (371.5 KB)

Change VPNRedirect to 0 and reboot.

Thanks @kyle_HMS
I made the change, rebooted and the internet access is working.
Is it advisable to enter the router’s IP address as DNS or would it be better to use a “stronger” address, e.g. that of Google DNS (8.8.8.8)?

In summary, only the additional changes “NAT and TF on WAN” and “VPNRedirect = 0” in relation to the instructions I listed were still necessary, right?

I highly recommend using a public DNS server like Google’s 8.8.8.8 in most cases. The only exception would be if you have a local domain and are using local host names which is a rare use case.

Correct, because you already had FwrdToWAN = 1 set.

Thanks @kyle_HMS for your feedback …
