Issue with Ewon Cosy WiFi

Hi Team,

My customer is having an issue with Ewon Cosy WiFi and due to weak signal, they are not able to connect get online. Do you think using a higher gain antenna and mounting it on top of the enclosure can help? Any recommendation for a third party antenna?

Thank you for your help in advance.

The placement of the antenna is probably the most important thing. Mounting it on top of the enclosure and free of obstructions should help. Ideally the customer should get a WiFi repeater to improve the signal, because we don’t support 3rd party antennas. You could try an antenna like the one below (5 dbi), but you will want to make sure you are within FCC and local regulations. Any standard 50 Ohms WiFi antenna with an RP-SMA female connector should fit.

Kyle,

What is the default range for the standard Cosy antenna?

In a completely empty warehouse with ideal conditions you might get 150 feet, but in reality it will be far less. If there is a concrete wall between the device and teh access point, it might not work 10 feet away. It will be much easier to improve the signal by adding a wireless access point or repeater than trying to change the Cosy. If you start using 3rd party antennas with higher gain you will likely be out of compliance with the FCC or your local regulations. We do not support 3rd party antennas.
