Re: Fwd: Re: Fwd: Communication error with Trane (Samsung) unit (DO NOT EDIT THIS:56912)

Gentlemen,
See attached picture.
The on/off and mode status does not work. As shown, the error is "53 modbus exception code Illegal data value.
The address is correct per the registers. It is a read/write point. We are able to write a set point to the unit.
What are we doing wrong or missing? Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve Smith

Gentlemen,
Please see attached pictures.
There are no LED’s illuminated on the intesisbox. When the 12vdc is first applied, LED L1&L2 flicker for a second then turn off. The power diagram on front of the box, V1&V2, differs from the actual connection on the the terminals. (see picture). I’ve tried it connected both ways and there’s no difference. Which way is correct? Also, I’ve attempted a modscan with no success. I’m connected to EIA485 A&B. Power is connected to V1&V2, & the unit, box, & stat are connected on F3&F4.
Any assistance would be appreciated to make this product perform
Steve

Actually he is talking about page 13 in the PDF. We want their thermostat to be the controlling source “master” on the thermostat buss. The intesis would be set as “slave”.

Hello Scott,

This is technical support in Barcelona HQ.

It’s not a problem that the devices are connected in different order, it would work just as well.

The error you’re getting (65532, -4 in two’s complement), would mean that comms are in init stage. Do they remain for long in that condition? I’d expect it to fall back to -1, if staying long time (minutes) unable to start comms.

Note that master/slave setting is necessary to be setup consistently between thermostat and our device. Not sure how to change it thermostat (if it would work stand alone, then sure it’s set in master) - in our own device, you need to review page 12 - https://www.intesisbox.com/intesis/product/media/intesisbox_sm-rc-mbs-1_user_manual_en.pdf.

Also important to restart power of full AC system (from the breaker) / power cycle full system after switch change or plugging in our device in the 4-wire bus - then attempt comms.

If still problem, let us know, we’ll help further.

OK, we have this connected up and we are receiving this below via
modbus. The error register 12 value 65532 isn’t defined in the guide but
it’s close to the 65535 indicating comm problem. Also the green error
LED is blinking one a second indicating comm error. Presumably that comm
error is indicating a problem with the comm between the AC unit and the
Intesis box?

There is a wired thermostat connected to the same V1,V2,F3,F4 IDU
terminals. Currently our thermostat wiring goes intesis box – IDU –
Thermostat which isn’t as shown in the manual. Is that a problem? Is
there an end of line somewhere that dictates the wiring order of
thermostat and intesis box?

Scott,

Yes, the SM-RC-MBS-1 will work with that Trane indoor unit as it is
really a Samsung unit.

Your product catalog page on the indoor unit shows on page 40 the
connections we need for our gateway…

Here’s our IOM diagram on this unit…
