Register multiple ewons with gloabal key & with the same comcfg.txt file

@m_ross
Hi Michael,

Let me double check how the global key is used and i will follow up with you here.

Hi Michael,

Running though a quick test i confirmed that using the global activation code and the comcfg.txt will cause it to show up in ecatcher as a pending device.

Clicking approve opens up a quick wizard where you setup how you want the device to be added to ecatcher. Similar to how you add one manually in ecatcher. If yours was showing up right away as the other device my guess is you were restoring with the entire .tar file that contained the talk2m registration info.

Here are the two files i had on my SD card. I first setup the ewon though the wizards running all but the talk2m wizard then downloaded the comcfg.txt from the ewon directly, though getting it from a backup would work just as well.

T2M.txt (61 Bytes)
comcfg.txt (5.6 KB)

Hi Deryck,

Can you confirm that this will work on more than one ewon? That’s is the issue i’ve been running into.

Also, can you give me a quick run me through your procedure? was the T2M.txt and Comcfg.txt on the same SD card at the same time? Do you need to have an active internet connection, or will the device configure itself on its next internet connection?

Hello M_ross,

Yes this procedure will work on your ewons. You will want to make sure the ewon is not already registered to an account as the device will not tie in to a second account. The device will first need to be deleted from the account from eCatcher.

Where you were saying the new device was being restored as another preexisting device. I’m thinking you are restoring a full backup or the configuration file with the talk2m info on it. The ewon is then using that talk2m info to make a connection.

The way the SD card works is when it boots it scans the SD card for the appropriate files. You can have both the t2m and the comcfg file on the SD card. If they are detected the the settings are applied. In the case of the T2M.txt the talk2m wizard is auto run using the activation key in the file. This will fail for the same reasons manually running the wizard will fail. This also mean you need an internet connection setup for it to connect and get certificates from our servers.
I recommend reviewing the following pdf for details: https://www.ewon.biz/docs/librariesprovider10/ewon-english/manuals/application-user-guide/aug-0062-00-en-easy-commisionning-via-sd-card-or-usb-drive.pdf?sfvrsn=72a87dd7_10#pdflink6bdc22e8

To elaborate more on the comcfg.txt file. It will apply what ever settings are in the file on the device this means you can remove any settings from the text file that you do not want applied.

Hi Deryck,

Thanks for the support. I was able to get the SD card deployment working in our office. The customer I’ve been working on this for has additional questions about setting up the Proxy/port forward using the Cosy. I’m hoping you can call him and answer some of the more in depth questions. He’s available today: Greg Schiller, 707-703-9442, greg@tipwinns.com

Thanks!
