Anybus 3007 - Functional Earth & Signal Ground

Anybus 3007.pdf (754.5 KB)
Hi,
I have a few quick wiring questions; I am using the Anybus 3007 for an RS-485 to EIP application.
There are two connectors, a power connector, and a signal connector.
The power connector has a functional earth, and the signal connector has a functional earth and a Signal ground.

My interpretation of RS-485 networks, is that the shield runs to the signal ground pin (S4). All devices on their subs have their shields cut and taped back, similar to other analog in/out field devices.

  1. Do I just need to attach the P3 functional earthing pin to a ground bar where the Anybus module is located?
  2. Do I also need to connect the S3?
  3. Are they internally jumpered?

Thanks for your help!

Hi @Nirav,

  1. Do I just need to attach the P3 functional earthing pin to a ground bar where the Anybus module is located?

Yes, this is recommended for the FE.

  1. Do I also need to connect the S3?

Yes, we do recommend that you connect the signal ground (use 3-wires).

  1. Are they internally jumpered?

Do you mean galvanically isolated? If so, yes, there is galvanic isolation.
