Device going online and offline

Is there any follow up on this post? We have an eWon that is doing the exact same on and off behavior. IT at the facility feels it is the eWON device itself.

@jwhitney

The root cause of this issue can vary on a per case basis. It could be the network WAN instability, electromagnetic interference or low cell signal. There can be many different causes of the device dropping offline consistently so I’ll need to look at the device settings / logs.

Can you please provide a backup of your device (including support files)?

@jwhitney

Your backup shows that your Cosy 131 device is being heavily affected by noise or electromagnetic interference (EMI) on the switch. This is causing the switch to constantly reboot.

To resolve this issue, you need to ensure the eWON is grounded and using shielded ethernet cables.
Additionally, I’d recommend routing the cables away from any high voltage lines or industrial machinery that may be causing extra noise on the device.

You can also change the VPN protocol in the eWON to use TCP which may help with the disconnects as it will resend dropped packets. You can do this by changing a couple parameters in the com cfg of the eWON.
The instructions are located here:

This gives us something to have the plant electricians look into. Thank you.

SOLVED: Running shielded cable made the internet connection work correctly. It has been solidly online for a week without dropping offline. Thanks.
