Error Message in eCatcher

Hi Jason,

Can you try to manually delete the Tap adapter and re-add the tap adapter?

The files should be found here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\eCatcher-Talk2M\Talk2mVpnService\drivers

Run the Removetap as administrator, then the adtap as administrator, then run the renametap.vbs file

Good Afternoon Tim,

I ran deltapall.bat, addtap.bat and rename.vbs and still get the same error message on my screen when launching eCatcher.

Hi Jason,

If you are still receiving the error it is likely the TAP adapter files did not get installed correctly witht eh rest of eCatcher. If you follow the directions in this post you can manually install the adapter then rename it to Talk2m-eCatcher

Good Evening,

I actually tried all of those things last night before I filed the ticket, with no luck. I will try again this evening.

Thank you,
Jason Crispen

Hi Jason,

Just to make sure, you were following this part of the ticket right? image

Good Morning,

Yes I tried that method again last night from the hotel and the message still popped up in eCatcher and it was unable to connect.

Thank you,
Jason Crispen

Can you try and run the deltapal to delete the tap adapter and then install the tap adapter from this link and rename it to “Talk2m-eCatcher” and see if that fixes it?

The NSIS file from this link

I was able to get this working again by uninstalling McAfee. Its firewall was creating the issue.

Thanks @fulloutshr3d,

I’ll ask if other people can try that out as a solution

Tim,
I have this problem and have tried everything in this thread. I don’t have McAfee and I added ecatcher to the exceptions in my firewall.

Help

Try this:

  1. uninstall eCatcher
  2. install this version: eCatcher_6-7-3
  3. Try to connect. If it works, then upgrade to 6.7.10.

(Make sure to always reboot when prompted)

Yesterday when I first noticed the problem I uninstalled 6.7.10 and reinstalled it. After the installation it worked, however today when I started my computer I got the same message.

  1. Were you on the same network the whole time, or did you connect from different networks (i.e. from office, then from home, etc.)
  2. Can you please send a screenshot of the error message you are getting?
  3. Do you see the eCatcher process in the Task Manager?

  1. What is the version of Windows? Do you have any 3rd party Anti-virus, Firewall, or other security software installed?
  2. Please provide the log files from ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\eCatcher-Talk2M\Talk2mVpnService\logs’ and if you are able to open eCatcher, from Settings > System Logs

And it was on the same network.

Sorry, I should have also asked you about the service and if it’s running or not:

Can you also answer:
4. What is the version of Windows? Do you have any 3rd party Anti-virus, Firewall, or other security software installed?
5. Please provide the log files from ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\eCatcher-Talk2M\Talk2mVpnService\logs’ and if you are able to open eCatcher, from Settings > System Logs

It seems like there is something either corrupted in your installation, or something internal blocking the VPN service:

I recommend uninstalling again, making sure to reboot after. The install again as Administrator, rebooting when prompted.

If that doesn’t fix it, we’ll have to look at the PC with Teamviewer. There may be something interfering or blocking the VPN service.

I’m going to take this thing home and try it from there.
