How does eBuddy take a backup of a device?
eBuddy makes use of the FTP support when creating the backup.
eBuddy connects to the device via FTP and downloads all of the files, placing them into a compressed archive.
Is there a way to create a backup without eBuddy?
Here are instructions on how to take and restore a backup in this manner.
To get a backup.
- Open FTP connection to the eWon.
- Transfer backup.tar from the eWon.
- Close FTP connection.
To restore backup to a device.
- Open FTP connection to the eWon.
- Transfer backup.tar to the eWon. The file must be named backup.tar
- Close the FTP connection to the eWon.
- Once the connection is closed the unit will reboot and restore the backup.
Note that backup.tar does not contain any of the log data.
