How does eBuddy take a backup of a device?

eBuddy makes use of the FTP support when creating the backup.

eBuddy connects to the device via FTP and downloads all of the files, placing them into a compressed archive.

Is there a way to create a backup without eBuddy?

Here are instructions on how to take and restore a backup in this manner.

To get a backup.

  1. Open FTP connection to the eWon.
  2. Transfer backup.tar from the eWon.
  3. Close FTP connection.

To restore backup to a device.

  1. Open FTP connection to the eWon.
  2. Transfer backup.tar to the eWon. The file must be named backup.tar
  3. Close the FTP connection to the eWon.
  4. Once the connection is closed the unit will reboot and restore the backup.

Note that backup.tar does not contain any of the log data.
